Call for Abstracts

Call for Abstracts closing 18 January 2019

Abstracts submissions are invited for the World Engineers Convention (WEC) 2019 – providing a rare opportunity to present your work on a global stage. Engineers are leaders who can drive society’s destiny and design new and smarter solutions that enrich lives. The overarching theme for WEC 2019 is Engineering a Sustainable World: The Next 100 Years. The focus will not only be on engineering innovation, but how this can have a positive impact on our lives by creating sustainable engineering solutions.

Sustainability is used in the broadest sense and the convention program will offer three full days of content featuring six themes aligning to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This is a unique opportunity to take an integrated approach to solve many of the problems that the world is facing – all of them requiring engineering.

WEC 2019 Technical Journals

Alternatively, academics may submit their papers in one of Engineer’s Australia (EA) peer-reviewed technical journals this is instead of publishing their paper in RMIT Informit Engineering Collection. The papers need to be clearly marked ‘WEC 2019 paper’ and the full paper needs to be submitted via the Editorial Manager submission system. There is no guarantee that the paper will be published in the journal, it is subject to peer-review process conducted by respective journal EditorsPapers that are not accepted into a peer-reviewed technical journal can be included in the RMIT Informit Engineering Collection following notification of non-acceptance.

Gold Open Access (GOA) Opportunity

All papers that are accepted in one of EA’s peer-reviewed technical journals may have the opportunity to be published as Gold Open Access (GOA) Valued up to USD$3,000 per paper.

GOA allows authors and readers to read, download and share their papers with anybody without restrictions and in perpetuity.

Engineers Australia has an allowance for up to 7 papers submitted in any of the EA journals to be funded. This is a very rare opportunity.
